On the 15th of March 2022, the Economic Crime (Transparency and Enforcement) Act 2022 received Royal Assent following an expedited passage through Parliament. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine reinforced the need to enhance the quality and value of information available on the register, and we acted quickly to boost the powers and role of Companies House. At the end of March 2022, the companies register had grown to holding information on around 4.9 million incorporated companies and the register has been accessed over 12 billion times, informing many business and lending decisions.
